Humble Beginnings
Sometimes life gives you a shot at something special. This was the case with how I began working with dogs. A majority of my background prior to working with dogs was in business, particularly in transportation, logistics, and retail.
When I realized there was a need for a change, I left the professional world, and decided to make my own way forward. It began by delivering pizza at night, and shortly after I took a day job walking dogs. Within my first week of my dog route, I quickly realized I was right where I needed to be in life. Going on three years strong with a 24/7 dog mindset; training never ends, nor learning. Once the thirst of knowledge began, I dove in headfirst by shadowing dog businesses across the industry with a direct approach, which included extensive research, and hands-on training.
This is the blue-collar approach, which has transformed into the Paws Forward Way. The best way to learn is together, jumping in with both feet, while remaining positive and consistent with the training process. We all learn together at Paws Forward Training.

Work as a unit utilizing positive reinforcement, and conditioning. A special emphasis is put on muscle memory on the human, and dog side of training: working on mechanics, energy, and body language. The only way forward is with a positive mindset. Communication is the pillar of training a dog, everyone in the household must be on the same page. Consistency is the Paws Forward Way. Training begins at the pup’s residence, and as they gain their footing with the basics, we begin to train more out in the world with more challenges and distractions.
The center of training revolves around a mix of place training, heelwork, recall, and each dog’s unique strengths. Place Training centers a dog’s focus, and allows for a pause, thus increasing their focus. One of the fastest ways to build a relationship with your dog is through leash-work. Working on heel work extensively enhances communication, and compliments sound recall, while working off-leash in a safe area. Remember, each dog is different! This is an awesome opportunity to identity each dog’s unique characteristics, while showcasing their talents. Remember dogs’ read our energy, so having fun during the training process paired with high energy is the only way FORWARD!
